Overview Of The Role:

Key functions of the role include Estimating & Sales Support tasks such as to:

  • Provide an estimating service to the business.
  • Manage costing data with the Sales & Applications Group.
  • Analyse costs on completed projects, to provide a closed loop against original estimates.
  • Provide support services to the Sales Team.

 

Manage cost data:

Create, manage and share cost data within the Sales & Applications Group to include materials costs and logistical costs such as trucking, packaging etc cost of painting and shipping. 

 

Review of Estimates Against Cost Incurred:

Pro-actively review internal cost data within the business, including analysis of incurred project cost against original estimates, to ensure feedback is made into the estimating process.

 

Support Services to the Sales Team:

Provide support services to the Sales & Applications Team, which may include producing sketches, drawings & concept designs, calculations and proposals in a timely and effective manner to meet our customer’s requirements.

 

General Duties:

  • Ensure effective communication within the business to assist in securing profitable contracts.
  • Ensure effective handover of information to the Sales and Applications Team and other internal customers within the business.
  • Work closely with & support other departments in the Company to ensure that our customer’s and the Company’s requirements and expectations are met.
  • Challenge existing processes and methods (office and shop floor) to drive improvements in efficiency and productivity

 

Education and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Engineering or Manufacturing Qualification to HNC level or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Engineering or Manufacturing Qualification to HND level or above

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

  • Practical experience of welded fabrication
  • Minimum of 2 years estimating experience of light gauge and medium welded fabrications
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D fabrication drawings. 

Desirable

  • Practical experience of light gauge and medium welded fabrication
  • Over 5 years estimating light and medium welded fabrications
  • Recent personal experience of working in an Engineering or Manufacturing business.

Skills

Essential

  • Confident in the use of IT applications and be computer literate.
  • Technically and numerically competent, with an analytical approach.
  • Commercially competent
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet customer deadlines.

Desirable

  • Ability to manage others.

 

Other:

Essential

  • Out of hours working may be necessary in order to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
