Cullum’s 60th Anniversary Event: The Round-Up

On 2ndMay, Cullum continued our 60thanniversary celebrations with an event to honour our dedicated employees and work with local schools to encourage STEM opportunities. We had a fantastic day with many of our employees getting involved with activities, from cheering on the students during the STEM challenge to walking in the rain.

Inspiring Students

We kicked off the day with a presentation about our work to local students from Heanor Gate and Aldercar secondary schools. The students were eager to take a look around the shop floor and get started with the STEM activities we had planned.

Their competitive side showed up when we challenged them to build a free-standing structure made from pool floats. The teams put in their best efforts and used team work to build their noodle towers. We then presented the winning team from Heanor Gate school with an award before all the students enjoyed some ice cream and a drone demo.

Looking Back

By the time the students returned to school, our employees had finished their work for the day to take a look at our displays celebrating our longstanding employees and Cullum’s achievements over the last 60 years.

We also had a scale model of one of Cullum’s original detuner exhausts made by our talented apprentices. The model was designed, manufactured and constructed by the apprentices in 4 months, leaving our older employees impressed by their hard work.

Charity Walk

Once everyone had a chance to take in our exciting history, it was time for our sponsored charity walk  for Ben’s Den. We were determined to go ahead with the walk, rain or shine, so we set off in a shower with some of our less experienced walkers taking a wrong turn or two along the way. Overall, we managed to raise £500 for this great cause that gives children with cancer an opportunity to go on holiday with their family.

Moving Forward

After drying off from the walk with a hog roast, the final activity of the day was presenting our longstanding employees with medals to recognise their many years of hard work. We also took this opportunity to tell our employees about our refreshed brand identity  and the next steps Cullum will take to evolve the business.

We had a great day giving our employees an opportunity to celebrate the work they have accomplished and bond as a team. All of Cullum’s accomplishments are due to their commitment and innovation and we hope to continue our excellent track record as Cullum moves into its next stages.

We will continue to celebrate our 60thanniversary throughout the year, to follow what we get up to use #Cullum60 on social media and keep an eye on our website.
