Mechanical Design Analyst - CFD
Based at Heanor
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB PURPOSE
To analyse a wide range of bespoke products ensuring compliance with client specifications, legislative requirements, quality and HSE standards.
Support the Design team with the use of analytical tools and CFD techniques.
To work independently or as part of a team to develop new or existing products that meet the customer requirements.
To provide a professional CFD analysis service to the business and so interface with customers and suppliers to ensure activities are completed to meet or improve program, cost and quality expectations.
To Provide a point of contact for support and advice to other members of the design team and across the company as a whole
JOB ACTIVITIES
Completion of CFD analysis in support of detail design schemes
Support concept and detail design work through the application of CFD principles to generate optimum customer solutions
Participate in research and development activities
Advise on the gathering of data through site survey activities
Use IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (excel, word, mathcad, etc.)
Interpret engineering drawings
Generate concise and presentable sketches and reports for issue to a range of customers
Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards
Self-development to meet new requirements
Manage timescales of allocated tasks to achieve or improve deadlines
Provide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis and work to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and quality
Provide an engineering resource for other departments
Work in accordance with the company standard business processes
Presentation of Technical information and procedures both internally and direct to customer
Providing technical point of contact direct to the customer and sub-contract resource
SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on own initiative in a team environment
Responsible to the Engineering Manager for the CFD aspects of the mechanical design and integrity of the company’s range of products
To lead by example on the CFD discipline and operate to the highest engineering professional code of conduct
To identify and implement improvement initiatives, including design and process, within the department and the business as a whole
To liaise with other departments in achieving the departmental and business goals
To Liaise with External resource and provide principal point of contact for technical queries
To guide, mentor, supervise and develop junior staff on an ongoing basis

PERSON SPECIFICATION
EXPERIANCE
Essential
Experience in a responsible engineering position of a similar nature
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles
In depth CFD knowledge using ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL Multiphysics
Desirable
Experience with the Cullum's Product & Procedures
Practical use of design techniques of hazard identification and risk reduction
Familiar with the requirements of European directives such as the Machinery directive and ATEX
