JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE

  • To support the Sales and Projects teams by planning and undertaking site surveys and producing technical reports detailing the condition of installed equipment. To aid the securing of future work.
  • Working as part of the Sales team preparing and gathering internal and external cost/time estimates together with quotations from the supply chain.
  • Working as part of the Project team to plan, manage, execute and deliver projects to the purchase order, quoted scope, delivery dates, budget, and business needs. Limited to small orders unless there is supervision by more senior project staff.
  • Work with Project/Sales Managers to support and create the core elements or work breakdown structure (WBS) to ensure project delivery from initial set-up to close out.

 

JOB ACTIVITIES

  • Plan, arrange, execute and produce site survey reports for clients. The expected frequency is 1 week per month travelling to client site locations to undertake site-based inspection activity.
  • Work directly with Customers, Sales/Applications Engineers and Project Engineers to develop estimates, costing and plans.
  • Engage with procurement/production/engineering (relevant stakeholders at bid phase), to ensure operational buy-in and secure estimates, costing and plans where required.
  • Understanding and setting out the project deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage and coordinate with internal stakeholders and the external supply chain to ensure on-time delivery of items.
  • Ensure project delivery is on time, within budget, and of good quality as far as reasonably practical within delivery constraints.
  • Work as part of the project team to build projects in the ERP system, is correct and accurate.  Ensuring these are updated weekly.
  • Ensuring financial information is accurate, and budgets are aligned to the projects.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and operational management, and an ability to motivate people for all aspects of the business to fulfil both business and project requirements.
  • Assist with or carry out any other sales/project activities as required by your Line Manager or International Sales Director.

SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role forms part of the Sales team, but engagement with other departments and SME’s is key.
  • Reporting to your line manager you will be expected to work independently and achieve results without consistent supervision.
  • Coaching and mentoring from your line manager where required will be key to ensuring knowledge transfer and development in this role.
  • Strong team working ethic, able to contribute to a dynamic group, working under own initiative and as part the department and wider team as required.
  • The work is varied, may be complex and will involve changing rapidly from one task to another during the working day, often under pressure.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 5 in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Educated to BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical discipline.
  • Site Safety Passport, IPAF & Confined Space level 2.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

 

Desirable

  • Educated to HNC or above in an Engineering discipline.
  • Educated in Project Management, APM PFQ / Prince2 Foundation.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Minimum 12 months in a technical / manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 12 months in a site-based environment.
  • Strong mechanical engineering understanding.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communication and organisation skills, (oral and written).

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working in similar Engineering or Manufacturing business related to Aerospace and / or Energy sector.
  • Working knowledge of utility / capital projects
  • Technical sales and Project delivery experience.
  • Clear understanding of the capabilities of Primavera P3e, Microsoft Project or Asta project planning software.
  • Commercial knowledge.
