Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Work towards professional qualifications in engineering.
  • To acquire a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience through formal instruction and “on the job” training in order to support the delivery of Cullum products and services and to become a highly skilled engineer for our future business.

 

  1. JOB ACTIVITIES
  • Acquire the knowledge, skills and experience to achieve the required standards in engineering or in order to successfully complete the appropriate engineering apprenticeship. This will include but is not limited to:-

Year one

  • Under instruction and within training guidelines, operate/train in the use of Cullum machinery/equipment in order to gain a good knowledge of machine capacities and metal working techniques.
  • Learn and develop plating skills and increase knowledge and understanding of fabrication processes.
  • To carry out instructions from the Head of Manufacturing and Team Leaders in all aspects of the role and produce a consistently high standard of work, meeting the targets and deadlines set by manager and relevant training facilitators.

      Years two and three

  • Preparation of engineering calculations over a number of disciplines in support of detail design schemes
  • Participate in research and development activities
  • Aid with the carrying out of site survey activities
  • Produce sketch drawings of design concepts in sufficient detail to enable production of detail design definition drawings
  • Use IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (excel, word, Mathcad, CAD, PDM, PLM, etc.)
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards
  • Self-development to meet new requirements
  • Provide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis and work to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and quality
  • Hazard identification and risk reduction

 

 

  1. SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead by example on matters of HS&E, welfare and codes of conduct.
  • Identify and suggest areas of improvement within the apprentice training programme
  • Work under own initiative.
  • Ensure that Trainers are informed of major developments and/or problems relating to training and development.

 

 

  1. GENERIC CONDITIONS

 

  • Promote and represent Cullum when required, setting a good personal example at all times.
  • Take all possible and reasonable steps to create a harmonious working environment using effective communication and team working techniques.
  • Be aware of, and adhere to Cullum policies and procedures, including but not limited to ISO9001, ISO14001, BS OHSAS 18001, the Health, Safety, Welfare, Environmental & Quality policies and procedures and Employee Handbook.
  • Undertake duties as may be required within capabilities consistent with the Terms and Conditions of employment and responsibilities in accordance with UK and EC Laws.
