Cullum is pleased to report that we have completed the installation of 150m of ducting for Tata Chemicals Europe, at its flagship Carbon Capture and Utilisation Plant in Winnington, Cheshire.

Tata Chemicals Europe generates heat and electricity from one of the most efficient combined heat and power plants in the UK and the carbon dioxide emissions from their operation is set to be significantly reduced through the completion of the UK’s largest Carbon Capture and Utilisation plant. This plant will capture 40,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to taking approximately 20,000 cars off the road. The captured CO2 will then be purified and liquified and use as a raw material for the production high grade sodium bicarbonate for use in pharmaceutical and food applications.

Cullum designed, manufactured and installed around 150m metres of ducting, with the objective of ensuring that the emissions from the gas turbines arrived at the carbon capture plant at the right speed and temperature.

Many thanks to Tata Chemicals Europe, Hawkins Construction, Studley's and all our suppliers during our input to this project, which was executed safely and efficiently within the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic.
